Uruky is a online billing application ideal for small businesses and freelancers, which is designed to be simple, hassel free, and to be much affordable. From the begining our main goal is to keep it simple yet smart enough to fulfil your needs.

Uruky the name

The name Uruky is derived from URUK.

Uruk was an ancient city of Babylonia. Uruk is popular as the uruk period, which (4000 to 3100 BC) existed from the protohistoric Chalcolithic to Early Bronze Age. It was believed that in this era humans have used silver and grain for their financial needs based on a standard weight.

As this was a start of the current markets, we thought Uruky will be a suitable name for our billing application.

Maintanance and Development

Uruky our system is backed by the team at SilverStripers, SilverStripers is a web development company which provides SilverStripe Open Source CMS related services, based in Sri Lanka, and working for companies situated in countried like united States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand.

A Little History

Uruky was at fist developed for the final undergraduate degree project by the founder of SilverStripers, and has been used for the billing purposes of the SilverStripers as an internal project.

In December 2009, the SilverStripers thought that Uruky can be published as a service base website, which is why it is here.

And by this time Uruky is hosted on the demo servers, to be tested more and to gain feedback from different people involved in different markets. We are planning to host the first FREE module by March 2010.
